2024 PORT STEPHENS ZONE ATHLETICS CARNIVAL
RULES AND CONDITIONS
- DATE: Friday, 22nd August
VENUE: Maitland Athletics Centre, 226 High St, Maitland.
TIME: Marshalling will start at 8:45am and the first event will commence at 9:00am - POSTPONEMENT: As there is no back-up date available at Maitland Athletics Centre and it is a synthetic track, postponement will only take place if the weather is very bad – possibly extreme. Postponement of the carnival will be announced on our Facebook page.
- THE PROGRAM: A copy of the program is included below.MARSHALLING: All competitors in an event must report directly to the marshal immediately their event is called. Competitors must be in the marshalling area before the first heat is run.
- RULES OF COMPETITION: Competitors are to be made aware of the specific rules of their individual events, particularly the following:
Starting procedures; relay changes and; correct procedures in Shot Put, Discus and Long Jump. - AGE DIVISIONS: Competitors compete in the age division according to their birthday this year:
JUNIOR: 8, 9, 10 Years 11 YEARS SENIOR: 12, 13 Years - PROTESTS: Protests may only be entered to the convenor by the Team Manager within ten minutes of the completion of the event.
- MEDALS: Medals will be awarded to the champions in each of the age division. Points will be awarded to this competition in finals only:
First – 7 points; Second – 4 points; Third – 1 point
Relays are excluded and Track and Field events carry equal points. - RIBBONS: Ribbons are to be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each event. Ribbons are awarded to place-getters across all heats.
- RELAYS: All relays are 4 x 100m on a circular track. Staff will supervise baton changes. Any detected infringements will lead to disqualification.
Relay categories:
Junior Girls (8-10 yrs)
Junior Boys (8-10 yrs)
Senior Girls (11-13 yrs)
Senior Boys (11-13 yrs)
Nigel Bagley (Small schools 25-54 enrolment)
Elizabeth Austen (Small schools 1-24 enrolment) - HEATS AND FINALS: 100m age races are run in heats. The top 8 times will qualify for the 100m final. All other track events are timed finals.
- HUNTER QUALIFICATION: The zone will select three competitors to represent at the Hunter Athletics Carnival for each 100m category and a maximum of two competitors for all other events.
